Sophie’s journey into photography began at a time when she was struggling with living in urban environment, feeling overwhelmed with the seemingly ugly and mad city. The view through the lens gave her a new perspective. Suddenly she found herself surrounded by a stunning array of colours, patterns and dances of lights, as if she had discovered the door to a parallel universe hidden behind the obvious. Abstracts of street life are what she’s mostly drawn to since: Reflections that produce dreamlike layers in a shop window, the painterly effect of textures, the beauty of details which are usually ignored. She often includes an obscure human element through motion blur, reflections, shadows or silhouettes. She's not aiming to show reality as it is but to create her own – with a surreal and mysterious atmosphere which is rich in associations.
