manifesto

Our mission is to be a magazine by and for photographers.

To bring photographers out of the ratrace of chasing likes on digital platforms and into the world of print.

To get great work under the eyes of a new audience.

To allow for a more mindful and meaningful viewing experience, in a controlled and curated environment.

Joep Hijwegen

Joep Hijwegen

Founder / Head Editor

Joep is a street photographer based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Originally picking up photography as a way to deal with his own anxiety and the alienation that comes with modern life, Joep has now found his bliss in his cinematic yet personal style. Dubbing his work ‘existential street photography’, he hopes to provide himself and the viewers of his work an empowering perspective, painting life as something to be directed by us. Starting out sharing his work on Instagram, Joep’s break came when he was selected both as a finalist for GUP NEW and a Haute Talent. Mentored and put forward by reknowned gallerist and curator Roy Kahmann, Joep was featured at the Haute Photographie fair in Rotterdam, and was thus hurled into the fine art world. This experience is what drove him to start Beyond Digital. He wanted to use his experience of moving from instagram into the art world to help other talented street photographers reach beyond the digital sphere and into the world of print.
