With my work I want to captivate people by making the world more beautiful than it perhaps is. Taking the viewer to a different era by using multiple layers, often very colorful and with a strong link to the past. By doing so I want to enchant the viewer with a nostalgic emotion which at the same time lets them think about our current time and society. Art is the only constant mirror throughout human history. I am a person that is let by emotions, less rational. Something that brought me a long way but also cost me a lot. Especially energy, negative energy. A large part of my life I worked in business surroundings that are drenched by fatiguing political games and the ever-leading commercial profit. A surrounding that often lacks color, substance and authenticity. I tried to mentally escape these places by going more and more often to art exhibitions and museums. A museum is generally a quiet place, light or dark, often large and not so many people. It is a beautiful place where not a product of commerce is in the center of attention like in a store but a piece of art. Which sometimes and at first does not make any sense at all. You can’t buy it, you perhaps don’t understand what the artist meant by creating it, it is only displayed to let you think, feel and experience. Created for an inner journey that enriches your senses and intellect. And for some unfathomable reason it works. That is the foundation of all my work. That ‘arena’ what you call a museum is also how I see a city, I am a visitor who is walking through a ‘museum’ but now is searching for the pieces of art instead of having them presented. A city for me is not different versus a museum. A place full of color, substance and authenticity.
